My interest has been mainly the west coast. This has led to me painting on large canvases in oil and acrylic.

Most of my works have an element of peace and realism but some have something different or surreal. My passion for nature, particularly trees, birds, and water, shows throughout my work. This has become more apparent in my “Tree Ladies” twisting on the canvas. I invoke a sense atmosphere in these large pieces painted in warm subtle colours. Pohutakawa trees are very special to me. They represent a feminine beauty and form. They survive and grow anywhere, even on rocks.

I paint canvases in which I present two or three meanings or scenes in one, like cycles of life, close-ups of what is around me, or just capturing the essence of a place that I have both explored and loved.
