Paddy is a self –taught potter who has developed a process that enables him to use the black sand sourced from Piha beach.

 He likes using the black sand as it adds a different dimension to his work giving a silhouette effect and sparkle from the glass in the sand. His art is often inspired by the NZ wildlife and native bush.
