MIKE ROWLAND

Mike developed a serious interest in art from the age of eleven. He worked initially as a graphic artist in a printing company, before attending Elam school of fine art in Auckland. Following his time at Elam, he worked for a while in the Auckland Central Art Gallery (conservation department). Overtime Mike has produced 11 solo shows, as well as participating in many group shows. He has sold work through N.K.B gallery in Mt Eden, Art of this world in Devonport and Kohukohu, Corbans Estate Henderson, The Parnell gallery, most recently the International Art Centre in Parnell and of course The West Coast Gallery in Piha. Mikes work has moved across genres, subjects including urban scenes, landscape and narrative works with people as the focus. Surreal and illusional works have developed as an offshoot of this experience, with diverse themes.
