CLAIRE INWOOD

Using primarily recycled fabric I create original cloth dolls, many with a Pacifica theme. The dolls are a perfect medium to practise my loves of vintage textiles, weaving, sculpture, costume, collecting, recycling and humour.

The handcraft skills I use were passed on by my mother, grandmother and friends.

My background includes - batik, pen and ink drawing, simple clothing and costume design, mask making and handpainted furniture. I teach children's and adults art and cooking classes and have tutored in dollmaking at CEAC Summer School.

Living at Piha is a constant constant source of inspiration for me.
