Alex Laubli is a Titirangi-based artist, music teacher and musician. Her arts practice often has to fit around her musical pursuits, but art has been a part of Alex’s life from early on. She has experimented with a variety of media over the years, including drawing and painting with watercolours, acrylics and oils, ceramic painting, as well as wood-carving. Alex chooses the media to suit the artwork, rather than trying to adapt an idea to the media. Working from her home studio, Alex is currently making small sculptures from recycled copper wire and other metals. A keen outdoors person, her art is inspired by the shapes of nature and the flora and fauna of the local forests and coastlines.
