Delicia Sampero
Painter & Installation Artist
West Auckland resident Delicia Sampero is a painter and installation artist whose exhibition career spans nearly forty years. Since 2010, Delicia Sampero has embarked on a unique artistic journey, creating art that breathes new life into discarded traffic signs.
Delicia's artwork is reflective and changes depending on the light and the perspective of the viewer, becoming luminous at times. She draws inspiration from her tri-cultural family Germany, New Zealand, Samoa) the complex interconnections present in nature, the intricate neural pathways of the brain, the dynamic exchange between humans and cultures, technology, and the complexities of the current world.
She has exhibited in Berlin, Paris, Hawaii and Samoa. Her works were published in books and are held in many private and public collections (James Wallace collection, New Zealand Portrait Gallery, the World Bank). She holds a Masters of Cultural and Creative Practice from the Auckland University of Technology and was awarded the Dean's Excellence Award for her research around Art in Education.
