Judy's family were ‘rock hounds’ and she grew up as a child spending hours looking for agate, petrified wood and pounamu in the rivers and beaches of the South Island.

This habit has continued with collecting stones from wherever she happens to be. The materials she uses in her jewellery include coloured glass, stone, ceramic (broken china) and sterling silver. She loves using recycled materials as much as she can. The idea of giving materials a new life and form appeals to her- broken china or off cut glass becoming a personal adornment. She likes using china as there are often stories behind its designs.
