I am a Piha based textile artist and designer working in the medium of printed silk. I have loved colour and pattern for as long as I can remember, and in 2017 I took the leap to launch Bess Studio.
My background in Fine Arts is a constant source of inspiration to my creative process. My designs start with sketches using ink and brush, before I take them into a digital medium. I then layer and build up the digital canvas intuitively, until I am happy with the final balance and colourways for each collection. Each piece is printed onto the highest quality silk and then lovingly finished with traditional hand-rolled seams.
My work has been featured in many leading fashion and design publications over the last few years. The collections are sold through galleries and boutiques in both Australia and New Zealand.
