Most of my work begins with something I notice and can't quite leave alone. This is often something fairly ordinary or familiar. The act of observation picks up different things along the way: movement, memory, coincidence, mood, or comfort.

Looking closely tends to change what I see, and in turn the familiar becomes less fixed and more interesting.

Painting is me paying attention.
